For many years, Family Service Communities has dedicated itself to developing affordable enriched
housing services for seniors who do not qualify for
low-income housing yet who cannot afford one of the pricey, upscale alternatives.
The Northfield is the culmination of many years of planning, fund raising, and collaboration. We owe a special debt of gratitude to the following who worked with us the make The Northfield a reality.
The Fairport Baptist Home which donated the land
for the project, and will be providing food service, laundry and building and grounds maintenance. Special thanks to FBH President Reverend Garth Brokaw, for his personal support and dedication to this project.
Bishop Sheen Ecumenical Housing Foundation, especially Allynn Smith and Linda Berger, who provided invaluable consultation on how to develop the project and find our way through the myriad legal, funding and approval processes.
LeCesse Construction Company, with special thanks to Joe Defendis, Andrew Hislop, Mike Youngblut, Christopher Phillips, Matt Keyser, Jon Genrich and Scott Brown, whose motto is: "Anyone can build an building, but it takes an artist to make it a home." Somehow, the LeCesse team found a way to keep the project on time and within budget in spite great adversity from mother nature.
Barkstrom & LaCroix architects, especially Bob Barkstrom, Roger Brown and Rich Linder, who designed a facility that is very functional and attractive and yet moderately priced. As one women noted when she paid the deposit on her apartment, "I've seen many senior apartment complexes, but this is the first one that feels like home."
